PUBLIC NOTICE

2020 Decennial Census – Public Hearing to Review and Consider the Voting District Boundaries for the Rim of the World Recreation and Park District’s Board of Directors

During the January 2022 Public Board Meeting
January 24, 2022
6:00 PM
Conducted Via Zoom

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rim of the World Recreation and Park District (the “District) will hold the following public hearing and meeting: a public hearing on Monday, January 24, for a presentation on the evaluation of existing voting districts and the need for any changes to such areas as required by law.

Per Elections Code Section 22000, after each decennial census, a Special District with a Board of Directors elected by districts is required to review and, if necessary, after such review, to adjust division boundaries to equalize the population of each district while staying in compliance with Section 1973 of Title 42 of the United States Code. The District must complete any required realignment of the Division boundaries and hold two public meetings prior to adoption, by resolution, of any realignment map or readoption of the current map. The review of the boundaries does not necessarily mean there will be a change in the boundaries, but is a process required by law.

Any proposed changes and other information map is available for inspection on the District website www.rim-rec.org or at the District offices.

Any potential changes in voting areas also will be discussed again at a public meeting on February 28, 2022, to consider hearing comments from the public on proposed changes, if any, to the District Directorial Division Boundaries Map.  There will be an additional noticed public meeting on March 28, 2022.

Testimony will be heard at the time of the hearing in support of or opposition to the 2021 District Directorial Division Boundaries Map. Any person wishing to be heard regarding the 2022 District Directorial Division Boundaries Map may attend and speak at the public hearing or may submit written comments prior to or at the time of the meeting to the attention of Jenny Hueter, District General Manager, jhueter@rim-rec.org. In addition, email or comments via zoom will be taken as set out on the posted agenda for the January 24, 2022 meeting.

If you do not protest the 2022 District Directorial Division Boundaries Map at this hearing, you may be barred from challenging it in the future.
