The Skills & Drills for flag football is designed to give kids a strong athletic foundation that can be carried over int the Rim Flag Football program. By focusing on movement skills—like balance, quickness, footwork, and coordination—athletes build the tools they need to excel. The goal is to develop speed and athleticism in a fun, supportive environment, so kids not only improve their skills but also build confidence and a lifelong love for being active.
Coach Evan and his brother, Coach Phillip, volunteered as head coaches for the 2025 Youth Flag Football League, taking on a team made up largely of first-time players. Through dedication, patience, and strong leadership, they guided their team to an undefeated season in the 5–8-year-old division.
Parents were incredibly impressed with the positive experience and player development they saw throughout the season. Many encouraged Evan and Phillip to continue working with the kids by offering an off-season skills and drills program.
So, they did. With clear, easy-to-understand coaching techniques and a strong emphasis on teamwork, fundamentals, and confidence-building, Coach Evan and Phillip help players not only learn the game but truly enjoy it. His approach made football fun, engaging, and rewarding for every child on the team.
Now, Coach Evan and Coach Phillip are excited to bring that same energy, knowledge, and passion right before Rim Youth NFL Flag Football begins.
Football has been a lifelong passion of mine, but it was training that truly changed the course of my life. Going into high school, I became fascinated with how athletes could improve through hard work and smart training. I spent years attending camps and seminars, studying courses, working with personal trainers, and even setting up drills in my garage. That dedication paid off—I earned playing time on varsity as a freshman and went on to be named the league’s top running back as a sophomore. But the turning point came when my coach wasn’t able to run off-season practices. I stepped in to lead. Almost every day I was on the field, running sessions for anyone who wanted to improve: teammates, athletes from other sports, even younger kids whose parents saw me out there and asked if I could work with them. That’s when I discovered I loved coaching even more than playing.I’ve carried that passion into working with my younger brother Phillip (now my assistant coach for this program). Together, we transformed his career: after multiple injuries and years away from the game, he returned as a junior and went on to be named the league’s best running back in both his junior and senior seasons, as well as All-CIF, with nominations for All-State and Inland Empire Player of the Year.I don’t come with a stack of credentials—I come with years of self-teaching, investing in mentors, and results. Coaching is where I found a true passion, and I want to bring that same energy, knowledge, and love for the game to every kid who joins this program.Coach Evan Smith
