Summer Tennis Program

at Rim High School Tennis Courts

  Join the fun and sign-up for our Tennis Program this Summer.  Learn from a real tennis professional the skills needed to play a game of tennis to help keep you fit and healthy.  Class sizes are limited.  Register at the Park District office in Rimforest.

Scott Smith has an extensive background in tennis.  He currently is teaching individual and group lessons in the city of Hermosa Beach .  Scott was also the Women’s Assistant Coach at Loyola Marymount University , Head Tennis Coach at Mt. St. Mary ’s College in Los Angeles , CA and much more.  He has been a member of United States Professional Tennis Association since 1979.  Scott’s professional tennis experience dates back to 1979. Parenting Classes

ROWRPD is taking registrations for the Dynamics for Success: Parenting Classes.  Classes are structured as "Open Book", learn at your own pace, open entrance, open exit.  Some of the topics covered are: Identify your parenting style, Self-Esteem and personality, Getting your child to cooperate, Discipline that makes sense, Putting structure into your home, Single parenting, Talk about divorce and blended families.  Pre-registration is required.

Day/Time:  Thursday, 6:30 - 8:00pm

Weekly:     $15.00         Pre-registration: $20.00  Covers all material for this class.

Ages:    18 and up 

Classes will begin October 25th  provided the minimum of 5 participants is met.

 

Polynesian Dance

Come learn the dances and cultures of the Pacific Islands: Hawaiian, Tahitian, Maori and Samoan. Both traditional (Kahiko) and Modern (Awana) hula dances are taught.  There are classes for all ages from 4 years to 104 years.  Classes range from beginner to advanced levels.  Pre-registration is required.  Come into the District office to sign-up.

 Japanese Karate - Do

Japanese Karate-Do is an art form where you learn basic and advanced techniques of SHITO-RYU KARATE, including various blocks, strikes, stances, kicks, sweeps, throws, take downs, choke holds, joint locks, pressure points and counter moves.

Aikido

Participants will learn to blend, pivot, turn, spiral, in order to harmonize their energy with that of their attacker & thus resolve the conflict in a non-lethal, yet effective manner.  Pre-registration is required.

Convert negative anger into positive energy.  Classes are structured as "Open Book", learn at your own pace, open entrance, open exit.  All material is covered in the cost of registration.

Equestrian Clinic

The BASIC four week clinic will consist of a hands-on opportunity to learn and demonstrate the basics of being on and around horses.  You will learn about the importance of horse safety, how to approach a stabled horse, lead the horse, proper tying, how to groom and tack up, as well as mounting and dismounting techniques.  You will learn to walk your horse, riding, balance, turning, halting and riding a figure 8.  A certificate will be awarded upon completion.

Taekwondo or Korean Karate

You can enjoy the physical beauty of this art form at the same time learn to defend yourself while you tone, strengthen and increase coordination of your body.  All ages will enjoy the positive benefits that carry over to all aspects of life such as improved grades, focused concentration, confidence, respect for life, team spirit, agility and better health.  Pre-registration is required.
